PR & Marketing Assistant - VA Department of the Treasury
October 2017 - present
My first year on this job, we not only met our yearly goals, we blew past them and just kept going! We work to make sure every Virginia citizen is aware of the unclaimed property program and help them find any missing money. We also search out the owners of high dollar amounts we have in our system. Using social media, events and good customer service, we work very hard to get our story out to Virginia!
Manager/Bartender/Server - O'Neill's Grill
August 2012 - December 2016
At this college job that turned into much more, I wore many hats. I started out as a server, providing excellent customer service, and was promoted to bartender the following year. In 2015, I was asked to train as a manager and proceeded to close the restaurant as the only manager in the building on Monday nights.
Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Strasburg High School
August 2015 - June 2016
My alma mater high school called and asked me to take over for a teacher who'd be gone for one year. This require planning and teaching his classes on my own and advising the yearbook. I poured everything I had into this job. My efforts on the yearbook resulted in a 12% increase in sales and a 40% increase in revenue in one year!
Fashion Editor/Social Media Director - Virginia Bride
January 2015 - August 2015
While in college, I contributed to Virginia Bride once a week for their blog. After I graduated, I was given much more responsibility. I ran their social media pages and posted twice weekly to their blog with bridal fashion tips and planning help. I brought in about 500 new Facebook followers and loved promoting the bridal shows through social media!
Senior Production Editor - The Bluestone
May 2013 - February 2015
As the second-in-command editor of JMU's yearbook, The Bluestone, it was my job to work with writers and photographers to hone their skills and edit their stories when their deadline was up. I regularly met with my writers to help them and wrote my own stories in the meantime. Our efforts resulted in our being finalists both years that I was on staff for the prestigious Pacemaker award, unofficially known as the Pulitzer of college journalism.
